Areas of Expertise

Who do I work with?

I have worked with clients that range from 8 years of age to 80, as well as those from diverse social, religious and cultural backgrounds. I work therapeutically with individuals, couples and families. Primarily I help adults and adolescents, however, I do have experience working with children and will take on child and youth clients on a case-by-case basis. If this may be of interest to you, please get in touch and we can discuss further.

What can I help with?

I am experienced in helping clients with issues and sufferings such as: anxiety, depression, grief & loss, trauma, PTSD, relationship & marriage problems, communication, identity, self-esteem, gender & sexuality, transitional periods and major life events (divorce, separation, career changes, family changes) carer stress, and individuals recovering from domestic violence.

How do I help?

I work within a relational psychodynamic model, meaning I seek to help clients find insight and understanding into themselves and whatever issue(s) they might be facing. I provide a safe and reflective space where clients may be seen, heard and understood. The modalities I tend towards are: Attachment Frameworks, Emotion Focused Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Play Therapy and Internal Family Systems work.

My Approach

At some point in life, most people seek formal or informal mental health support and guidance. This may be for various reasons which can range in severity, but more often than not there is one underlying commonality: there is an experienced sense of suffering.

Life, in all its colourful forms, is not without its challenges, surprises, traumas, roadblocks and transitions. Here on this Earth, we experience what it means to be human and what it means to be alive. We love, we live, we fail, we succeed, we stumble along, we get stuck, we survive, and if we’re lucky - we thrive.

My belief is that we may suffer for many different reasons. However, at the very core of human existence we essentially seek and desire the same things: connection, love, belonging, purpose and meaning. It is important to remember that what it means to “live a rich and full life” is different for each and every person, as each person is individual and unique. In my practice I seek to honour the uniqueness of each client; working within their world, perspectives and beliefs.

When a sense of suffering is what brings a person to the point of seeking help, I offer a safe and kind space to gently work with the cause of the pain. Together we can find insight, understanding, and in many cases, a different or better way to do things. Throughout my career I have developed a holistic framework for working with clients, understanding that the notion of ‘one size fits all’ is very rarely the case. Having worked with clients of all ages and backgrounds, I am flexible and adaptive in the therapeutic models and approaches I use. Simply put, I will focus on what works for you.

I seek to support, empower and facilitate healthy change for clients where possible and fitting; helping people to live happier, healthier and more meaningful lives.
